Meet Dr. John Hyson IV
General Dentist, Succasunna
Dr. John Hyson IV is a fourth generation dentist who spent time at both his father’s and grandfather’s dental offices while growing up. Seeing firsthand the memorable bond they each had with their patients, Dr. Hyson knew he wanted the same trusting, long-term relationships with his own patients.
After graduating from Towson University (MD) with his BS and MS in microbiology, Dr. Hyson continued his education at University of Maryland School of Dentistry. He then completed a rigorous general pracitice residency program at NYU Lutheran Medical Center in Brooklyn.
During his senior year in dental school, Dr. Hyson was selected for the prestigious Special Care and Geriatrics Clerkship in recognition of his ability to compassionately and expertly provide care to geriatric and special needs patients. He also received a Special Care Award for his continuous care of adults with special needs, which continued into his residency.
When not helping others achieve the smile of their dreams as a dentist in Succasunna, Dr. Hyson enjoys doing charitable work – especially by participating in dental missions to provide much needed care to the underprivileged. Once, while on a dental mission to Kibosho, Tanzania, Dr. Hyson checked an item off his bucket list – to summit Mt. Kilimanjaro! Dr. Hyson’s compassion extends as far as his love for rescue animals and says, “If I had my way, I would take in all animals in need of a home.”
Meet Dr. Timothy
General Dentist, Succasunna, Hackettstown
Dr. Thewes knew two things from a very early age – that he wanted to be a dentist – and after having a negative experience with his own childhood dentist, how vital the doctor-patient relationship is. This knowledge helped shape him into the gentle, caring, and sympathetic dentist that he is today. A true people person, Dr. Thewes loves to interact with his patients while also working to understand their needs and desires for a healthy smile.
Dr. Thewes graduated with honors from the University of Michigan and earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree at the University of Maryland. Dr. Thewes is a proud member of Gamma Pi Delta, a Prosthodontics Honor Society whose mission is to advance the knowledge of complex dental cases and how to treat them.
Dr. Thewes has a strong desire to help others and has volunteered with Parks & People, Bridgepointe for underprivileged kids, and accompanied Dr. Hyson to Tanzania where they helped physically disabled students with their dental care.
After growing up in Michigan, Dr. Thewes is excited to call New Jersey home and enjoys hiking Jersey’s scenic hills and mountains. When not enjoying the countryside, he enjoys playing soccer and golfing. To unwind Dr. Thewes likes healthy cooking and practicing the guitar.
